ASK BIG MAMA

How to handle a midlife career challenge, know when you’re in love, and make a change for once in your life

Big Mama, I recently lost my job. I am in my early forties and not sure what to do now. What should I do?

Take a piece of paper and write down 10 things that people admire about you. Then match those things with potential job or business opportunities for yourself and just go for it!

I really need a positive change in my life. I am so tired of the same routine. What should I do?

You have to know what kind of change will make you happier and what that change will mean to you and the people you care about. Sometimes, the only change you need is your attitude about your life. I know when I live in a place of gratitude, thanking my Lord, I am in a happier place within. Life is about the pluses and the minuses. Just be smart and feed your soul.

Big Mama, how do you know when you are in love?

When you wake up in the morning and you only want to see that person’s face by your side. Life has its ups and down, and the person who seems to be there no matter what — that’s who possesses the love you long for. Love is where you invest the good times and the bad times.

How do I stay faithful?

You stay faithful by holding on to hope. We must all have hope — and faith is the result. Hope for a better tomorrow, and faith that turns the tide toward an outcome that is either a lesson or a blessing. It’s all in how you look at it. God bless.

Big Mama should I go back to school?

Yes. I am always a student. I love to learn things that I never thought I would know. This is always a good thing for anybody.
