Celebrate Black History Month with the Library District

Experiences for all ages, from gallery exhibits, lectures, performances and crafts to movies, music and more!

To commemorate Black History Month, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is offering a variety of free events and programs for kids, teens, and adults.

“Black History Month gives us the opportunity to discover new voices and perspectives, and learn how this rich cultural and historic perspective has influenced music, art, science, sports, and virtually every aspect of American society,” said Kelvin Watson, Library District Executive Director. “In addition to in-person events at library branches, we have compiled a selection of acclaimed books, music, and movies that you can check out, download, or stream. You will also find educational and entertaining online resources that you can browse 24/7 with your FREE library card!”

February 1, 4:30 p.m., Centennial Hills Library: Jazzy Painting (Kids, K-5th grade).

February 4, 7 p.m., West Las Vegas Library: Black History Month: Voices Lifted (Mature Audiences)

February 4, 11 a.m., Sahara West Library/February 18, 11 a.m.: Little Artists: Faith Ringgold Story Quilts (Ages 2-6).

February 7, 1 p.m., Clark County Library: Hollywood Hits Tuesday: “The Woman King.” (Adults)

February 9, 4:30 p.m., West Charleston Library: D.I.Y. Rockets and the Hidden Figures of NASA, (Kids).

February 16, 5 p.m., Blue Diamond Library: Burro Yourself in Book Club: “Their Eyes Were Watching God.” (Adults).

February 17, 6:30 p.m., Windmill (Special Event-Registration Required—21 & over only)/Tales & Cocktails Book Club: Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson.

February 17, 7 p.m. Summerlin Library/February 18, 7 p.m. West Charleston Library: Black Swan Radio Hour: Vegas City Opera (All Ages).
