On the occasion of an annual holiday celebration, a venerable organization continues to wear it well.

The Las Vegas chapter of The Links, Incorporated will bring its 8th Annual White Christmas Jazz Luncheon & Fashion Extravaganza to the Gold Coast Hotel on December 12.

The luncheon is set from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., and will highlight the work of local high fashion designers. Miss Nevada Sylvia Taylor and several models who appeared on “America’s Next Top Model” will be among those on hand to wow the crowd.

“This year, our fashion coordinator for the extravaganza is designer Crystal Ball,” said chapter president Kathleen Knight. “Crystal is doing the entire show with her own So Crystal Designs and fashions from a number of other African-American designers who are from Las Vegas. We are excited to celebrate our very own Las Vegas African American designers at this year’s extravaganza.”

With fashions for both men and women on display, attendees will be entertained by jazz guitarist Calvin Brooks while they enjoy a delicious chicken meal. “When I first met Calvin, he was performing jazz at Green Valley Ranch and he has performed with every major musical artist in the industry,” said Knight. “People can expect an afternoon of great food, music and a wonderful fashion show with a ‘White Christmas’ theme.”

Tickets for the White Christmas Jazz Luncheon & Fashion Extravaganza are $75 each, with the proceeds going toward supporting The Links, Incorporated-Las Vegas Chapter’s community programs.

In 2014, the event drew 500 people. This year — with the assistance of fund developer E. Lavonne Lewis and 53 other Links members — the hope is to exceed last year’s attendance.

“The money we raise is used primarily for our scholarship programs and our various community programs that include the arts, youth and health services to the community,” said Knight.
