Urban Chamber of Commerce hosts meeting on opportunities for minorities that could come with an NFL stadium in Las Vegas.

The Urban Chamber of Commerce recently called a meeting to discuss what the potential new NFL stadium development by the Las Vegas Sands Corp. could mean for residents of color in terms of employment and contracting business opportunities. Community members inquired about the economic development opportunities for “black people” and those living in “89106 area code.”

Sands Corporation representatives indicated that there will be a “community benefit agreement” with oversight by a special board comprised of chambers of commerce and community organizations. Nevada State Senators Aaron Ford and Kelvin Atkinson, along with local union members and community leaders, were among those on hand to hear Sands Corp. representatives describe their commitment to underserved communities that include racial minorities, women, LGBTQ, and veterans.
