Celebrating law enforcement diversity

The diversity in Las Vegas law enforcement was on full display at the Sheriff’s Protective Association’s annual holiday gala. Among the celebrants: Tia Morris and retired Metro employee Regina Coleman, who is now president of Nevada’s Black Police Association. Said Morris: “Metro Police Department is very diverse. At one time I could tell you how many African American women worked there, but it has grown so much that I would have to research it to get the numbers.” Everyone in attendance was thrilled at the coming of the new year, which brings fresh opportunities to build new bridges of trust between the black community and local police.
