Stephanie Kirby is executive director of the local Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, whose objective is to “Raise awareness and educate local communities on women’s health issues.”
Primarily a fundraising organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure does not provide direct care. Rather, the organization forms partnerships with providers that offer medical services to uninsured and underinsured patients.
“If someone walks into our offices, we consult with them and put them in touch with organizations such as one of our grantees, like the R.E.D. Rose Program,” said Kirby. “They offer free breast screenings to the uninsured and the underinsured. If something suspicious is found in their breast, we go a step further to help them get an ultrasound. We help navigate the health care process from start to finish, achieving the best care for our clients.”
For additional information on the organization, call (702) 822-2324 or visit them online at komensouthernnevada.org.
