This past February, NV Energy celebrated Black History Month with “Behind the Face,” a tribute to African-American contributions.
As part of its month-long celebration, the company showcased profiles of African- American employees and black history trivia questions and contests on its intranet site. The Black History Month celebration culminated with a special luncheon event that featured NV Energy Board Member and Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of TAG Holdings LLC Joseph B. Anderson, Jr. as keynote speaker. In his presentation, Anderson shared the importance of diversity, his “above and beyond” approach to life and how his experiences as an African-American relate to the celebration of Black History Month. Simeon O. Holloway, a 90-year old historian and one of the first U.S. Navy B-1 Band members, also attended as a special guest.
To support the economic development of our community, NV Energy invited local organizations and African-American businesses to showcase their goods and services at the luncheon. NV Energy employees and guests enjoyed browsing the various vendor tables, learning more about the event’s participants and the significance of Black History Month.
