Councilman Ricki Barlow (center), Assemblyman Steven Brooks and Arts Center theatrical director Walter Mason pose with children from the West Las Vegas Arts Center Summer Camp.

Ages 10-15, these talented young artists commit themselves to the philosophy “Excellence Without Excuse,” developing skills in the areas of music, dance, theater arts and spoken word. The West Las Vegas Arts Center’s goal is to produce healthy, solid and responsible citizens — with steadfast discipline, the resilience to manage emotional and physical growth, and the integrity and pride to become dynamic community ambassadors through cultural and performing arts.
The eight-week program (June 13–Aug. 6) culminates in three free community performances. They are as follows:
• Aug. 2: 10 a.m.–noon, Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South
• Aug. 4: 1–3 p.m., Clark County Library Theater. 1401 East Flamingo Road.
• Aug. 6: 2–4 p.m., West Las Vegas Library Theatre, 951 West Lake Mead Blvd.
