Natural Beauty

Thanksgiving is a time to get together with friends and family, in a season meant to bring smiles and laughter into our homes.

There is nothing more beautiful than enhancing your personal style with love from within. As we prepare to create great traditional meals for the season of giving, we can also think about how those fresh ingredients contain untold benefits for personal beauty. Remember: When the time comes to clean up the kitchen, there may just be some natural treasures there to help you create the beauty in you!

Pumpkin is rich in vitamins A, C and potassium. Research has shown that these vitamins help with hair growth — and will keep the hair follicles hydrated while covered with weaves or wigs during the dry winter months. You can create your own natural pumpkin hair mask, by grinding up leftover pumpkin and adding olive oil and plain yogurt. Like any hydrating hair treatment, allow the mask to sit on your hair and scalp for at least 20 minutes, then wash out.

Also, the sweet potato can serve as another great natural mask for your hair, and will also bring moisture and shine. The nutrients in the sweet potatoes are good for internal and external use. You can also try taking the leftover sweet potato and grinding them up to make your personalized hair hydration mask by also adding olive oil and plain yogurt. Let the mask stay in your hair for 20 minutes, then wash out as usual. Please make sure you are not allergic to any of these natural ingredients before applying.

The holidays bring such joy and cheer! You can enhance those sensibilities by incorporating some of the traditions of the season into a healthy beauty regimen.
