Las Vegas filmmaker Lamonte Faison raises the curtain on “From the Inside Looking Out.”

Filmmaker Lamonte Faison

Las Vegas Black Image Magazine has followed the progress of filmmaker Lamonte Faison from the beginning of a special journey: the making of his debut film, “From the Inside Looking Out.” The movie, which is about the consequences of life choices, has been two years in the making. The grand premiere will take place July 27 at Town Center AMC Theatres.

“People can get their tickets for the premiere online at Brownpapertickets.com. We advise people to get their tickets early to secure a seat,” said Faison. “It will be a great premiere — with a red carpet and introductions of all the actors. We are super excited.”

Faison completed his film with the help of a local team of technicians and actors. “Filming a movie is difficult — it is not as easy as it seems,” he said. “We actually pulled people from Walmart stores to be extras. Some of our main actors, Terrance Washington and David Hart, are professional actors — but other films they have worked on never got to the stage of completion. But this film is a professional movie product that all will enjoy.”

First-time filmmakers face many challenges — and Faison is no exception. “From start to finish, there were things that had to be perfected such as development of the script, casting, and filming,” he said. “We had 33 actors in the film, and most people have day jobs. So we had to schedule our filming around everyone’s schedule. That was a process within itself.”

Faison plans to continue his filmmaking projects, and encourages people to come out and see his first film. “We only have the theater from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. on July 27 at Town Square,” he said. “There is plenty of time for everyone to get their tickets and come out to see a great movie.”
