LaTosha White’s life ended tragically, but her family and friends sent her home with an extraordinary celebration.
LaTosha Juane White was full of devotion for family and community. She was loved by many, and that love was on full display during the celebration of her life — as about 1,000 people filled Unity Baptist Church on Jan. 6.
Tragically, White, 50, was one of the security guards fatally shot at Arizona Charlie’s on Dec. 30. The other victim was 28-year-old Phillip Albert Archuleta. White leaves behind her mother, Sandra; father, Luther; brother, Bobby; and sister, Camille, along with a host of relatives and friends. Archuleta’s survivors include his sons, John Phillip and Jayden; brothers Garcia, Ricky, and Joseph; and sister, Evelyn. His parents preceded him in death.
The homegoing for White, who had worked for Golden Entertainment for 22 years, was a celebration. Everyone in the church was singing “Every Praise” while embracing each other. The family topped it off by wearing colorful hats and Mardi Gras beads as they marched outside the church while singing a New Orleans jazz rendition of “When the Saints Go Marching In.” White’s cousin, Aaron Arrington, danced around the casket while holding a purple umbrella embellished with green, yellow, and pink sequins. An array of blue balloons
were released as the hearse carried White to her final resting place.
