Aaron Arrington celebrates 10 years of faith, friendship and fellowship with the Facebook Chorale.
A native son of Las Vegas, Aaron Arrington was raised in the local church and, while growing up, played a huge part in the music department. Choir-directing is one of his many passions — and when planning his 40th birthday celebration 10 years ago, he began connecting with friends from around the Las Vegas Valley that he had not seen or worked with in years. He was new to social media, and the networking and reconnections gave him an epiphany: what if he could get 40 of his Facebook friends to form a choir to perform for his birthday?
That’s how Aaron Arrington & Facebook Chorale was born.
What was going to be a one-time affair has turned into 10 years of fellowship. Once a year, they gather for an annual anniversary celebration that has become the event of the year — attracting A-list participants like Donald Lawrence, Ricky Dillard, Dorinda Clark, and the late Edwin Hawkins, to name a few.
Many doors have opened for Aaron Arrington & Facebook Chorale on this journey: five nights at Caesars Palace Hotel with Mariah Carey for her “All I Want for Christmas “ holiday concert; performing at the House of Blues Gospel Brunch at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino; and serving as the production choir for the Stellar Awards for the past five years. They even have an album under their belt: “The Gift.”
On Saturday, October 19, Aaron Arrington & Facebook Chorale will celebrate their 10-year anniversary with the Praise in the Park Gospel Music & Arts Festival. Held at The Amp @ Craig Ranch Park (628 W. Craig Road in North Las Vegas) it will include special guests Kathy Taylor, Norman Hutchins, Brent Jones, Malcolm Williams, Crystal Rucker, Beverly Crawford, and Charles Jenkins More information about the festival can be found at www.praiseintheparkvegas.com or Ticketmaster.com
