Valley Hospice of Nevada puts the ‘patient’ in serving local families

Valley Hospice of Nevada is locally owned and operated. We began helping people in our community in April 2019 with a goal to provide care that addresses symptom management, coordination of care, communication and decision making, clarification of goals of care, and quality of life. To do that, we have an interdisciplinary team of professionals who address physical, psychosocial, and spiritual distress focused on both the dying person and their entire family. 

We have a team of healthcare professionals consisting of RNs, CNAs, LPNs, MDs, NPs, social workers, chaplains, bereavement and volunteer coordinators as well as volunteers. Each of our employees and volunteers are required to pass state background checks. 

Our team has a combined, extensive array of hospice experience of over 50 years in dealing with death and promoting comfort measures at the end of life. Our amazing, kind, experienced and caring staff each come from various healthcare backgrounds to help each one of our patients and their families deal with death and promote comfort measures at the end of life. 

Valley Hospice of Nevada provides medical care to help someone with a terminal illness live as well as possible for as long as possible and increase their quality of life. We are here to help walk you and your family through the process of hospice care from the beginning of care and through the bereavement of loss process. 

One of the best ways to help our patients is care for them at home (whether residential, assisted living, memory care, long term care facility, or care home, (basically wherever they call home and make sure they receive the best care with quality of life. 

At home, we can provide visits by a hospice physician, nurse practitioner, medical social worker, certified nursing assistant, and chaplain/spiritual advisor. Other things that we provide include: 

• Medications for symptom control or pain relief 
• Medical equipment 
• Physical therapy, speech, and language pathology services as well as occupational therapy, if needed 
• Dietary counseling 
• Volunteers 
• Any other Medicare-covered services needed to manage pain and other symptoms related to the terminal illness, as recommended by the hospice team. 
• Short-term inpatient care when symptom management cannot be controlled at home. 
• Short-term respite care for temporary relief from caregiving to avoid caregiver “burnout” 
• Grief and loss counseling 
• Educational In-Services for your staff with a wide array of topics as well as any requests based on need of training

For the families, we will be there to guide and explain — step-by-step — the hospice process. We will take care of the medical care so you can just be there for your loved one.
