There’s a new opportunity to beat summer boredom — and win cool prizes from the Golden Knights, Illuminarium, Raising Canes, Pink Box Donuts and more! Plus: sign up early and qualify to win NBA Summer League tickets.

Parents and caregivers are looking for solutions this summer, and the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District has the answer! Make this summer memorable and build new skills with the Library District’s annual Summer Challenge reading and activities program, running from May 15-July 31.

Kids, teens, and adults can all win cool prizes just for learning, discovering, and having fun. The theme this year is all about our planet’s beautiful oceans. And those who sign up early, from May 1-14, will be entered for a special drawing to win NBA Summer League tickets!

“As the end of the school year approaches, parents and caregivers begin searching for engaging programs to keep their children active and learning,” said Kelvin Watson, Executive Director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. “Studies show that kids and teens can lose significant school skills during the summer months, which we refer to as ‘summer slide.’ To capture their imagination this year, we are focusing on all things related to the ocean, plus lots of entertainment, crafts, technology, and much more. And everything is free.”

He added: “Even your baby or toddler can participate when you read to them and do early learning activities, such as singing, doing puzzles, even walking in nature and naming the things, or going to the grocery store and talking about the items on the shelves. These everyday experiences are ideal to teach young children the joy of learning.”

According to Watson, the Library District also gets requests from adults who are looking for their next great beach read or indoor activities to escape the summer heat.

Visit TheLibraryDistrict.org/SummerChallenge for events and dates all summer long — or stop by your nearest branch and talk to a friendly librarian. We are here to help!
