This issue of Las Vegas Black Image marks our 17th year publishing this Black-owned and operated magazine. And as we celebrate the milestone and welcome the year, let’s open 2025 with gratitude.

First and foremost, we thank our community of readers and outstanding advertisers for all the amazing support. We have more exciting developments planned for this year, and are blessed and excited to have you alongside us on this journey of Black excellence and upliftment. Your dedication to making our voices heard is a testament to the kind of partnership that moves communities forward.

Enormous thanks also go to our executive publishing team and roster of incredible writers: Louie Overstreet, Claytee White, Dr. Ellen Brown, Craig Knight, Dr. Marguerite Brathwaite, and Kimberly Smith are the editorial lifeblood of Las Vegas Black Image and we are looking forward to a year of enlightenment, inspiration, and education.

This issue celebrates the appointment of Alex Dixon as CEO of Resorts World Las Vegas. He is set to become the first Black Las Vegas native to hold this position — and his vast experience, education, and leadership ability all serve together as a roadmap to executive success.

This issue also celebrates Las Vegas’ new political leadership. We are very excited to see our new Mayor Shelley Berkley take the helm, along with new City Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong of Ward 5 and new Planning Commissioner Stephen Munford.

We wish you peace and love — and thank you for your loyal readership each and every month. God bless you all!

Rise,
