America’s Library CEOs Visit the Historic Westside

The West Las Vegas Library recently hosted a reception welcoming the national Urban Libraries Council (ULC) to the Historic Westside. The ULC held its 2026 Annual Leadership Forum in Las Vegas, bringing together more than 100 library CEOs and leaders from across the country.

Las Vegas Black Image Magazine representatives had the opportunity to speak with Chief Librarian of Brooklyn Library Edwin Maxwell, whose library incorporated Jay-Z’s “The Book of HOV” exhibit in 2023.

Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Executive Director Kelvin Watson, a National Librarian of the Year, brought the visiting library leaders together to tour and experience the new West Las Vegas Library on Martin Luther King Boulevard in the Historic Westside.

The visiting CEOs applauded the evolution of the modern library model and the West Las Vegas Library’s innovative, community-centered resources, which are available to residents throughout Southern Nevada.
