She’ll Be There

Mariah Carey returns to Las Vegas with a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

She is known around the world as the bestselling female artist of all time. Now songstress, writer, director, producer, and actress Mariah Carey is coming back to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, with a residency set for Feb. 2-20.

She has a vast catalogue of songs, and here is just a sampling of hits that have rocketed her to superstardom: “Vision of Love,” “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” “Emotions,” “Dreamlover,” “Honey” and remake of the Jackson 5 classic “I’ll Be There.” She has had more than 200 million albums sold to date, and 18 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles — more than any other solo artist in history.

Carey’s acting career began when she made her entrée into the world of independent film with her landmark performance in “WiseGirls,” starring alongside Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino and Melora Walters. In 2009, Mariah was recognized with the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival for her critically acclaimed role in Lee Daniels’ “Precious.”

According to Carey, regarding playing the drab social worker, “I really had to let go of my vanity and not care about my good side or my bad side. I had to strip down everything I am and become a completely different woman, and put myself in my character’s shoes, and understand how it felt every day to be with people just asking you for money — now that’s something I can relate to.” Carey went on to appear in Daniels’ 2013 movie “The Butler,” playing a field slave in the opening of the movie.

Carey also recently directed the holiday special “A Christmas Melody.” She has always tried her hand at directing while doing her music videos, but allowed others to take the credit. This time, wanted to give directing a real, professional try.

Las Vegas concertgoers will once again be delighted with Carey’s performance of some of her biggest hits. Her latest album release, “#1 To Infinity,” arrived in stores in 2015. For the first time ever, one career-spanning chronological collection gathers all 18 of her No. 1 singles. Included as the final track on the collection was Carey’s breathtaking single, “Infinity,” which she cowrote and produced. The album serves as the set list for Carey’s critically-acclaimed, headlining residency.

A 45-year-old mother of two, Carey is the recipient of a Congressional award for donating considerable time and energy to philanthropic causes near and dear to her heart, including: Save the Music; the Make- A-Wish Foundation; World Hunger Relief; and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

A tremendous supporter of children’s charities, both domestic and international, Mariah founded Camp Mariah in partnership with Fresh Air Fund — a retreat for inner-city children to explore career development. For more information visit: www.mariahcarey.com.
