Las Vegas residents celebrate the women who gave them life.
‘WILLING TO LET THE WORLD KNOW’
My mother Irma Black is a retired government worker for the Internal Revenue Service. She is the proud mother of five, grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 12 children. What I love most about my mother is that she is a woman of God, loves her family, and is willing to let the world know. She continues to pray for her family daily, and reminds us that we should always pray together. — Cassandra Lewis
‘SHE ALWAYS PRAYS FOR US’
Our mother Kathy Lattimore was born and raised in Las Vegas and has three children. She has been a Blackjack dealer for 34 years. She enjoys baking and the outdoors. We love her because she’s such a funny woman — and she always prays for us. She is truly remarkable and also raised a cousin as her own for many years. — Joaquim and Jameel Clark
‘A BLESSING TO ALL WHO MEET HER’
Jessica Lattimore is my mother — and at 80 years young, she is still very active. She loves to dance and stays involved with her church. She is a fun-loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is too blessed to be stressed, has successfully raised six children, and is a blessing to all who meet her. — Kathy Lattimore
‘SHE TAUGHT ME TO ‘NEVER GIVE UP’
I love my mother Nora Holliday, who has raised two sons and is the most unselfish person I know. She has taught me the meaning of commitment — to never give up, and always stay in the game. My mother has taught young people for 30 years and has a mentality of making no excuses for failure. Happy Mother’s Day, Mama. — Lamonte Faison
‘SHARES GOD’S LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY’
Edna H. Harris is a retired CCSD elementary school teacher. She is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and devoted 35 years to teaching. My mother loves the Lord, is the choir president at her church, and shares God’s love unconditionally by helping people in need. She is a blessing to so many people — she sometimes runs into her former students, and they remember her name and share how she made a positive difference in their lives. She is a faithful woman who loves her family. I wish my mother the best Mother’s Day ever with all my love. — April Harris
