Sherri Shepherd fuses star power to relatability, embodying why Black women rule supreme in daytime talk.

At any given time on any given weekday, you can turn on the television and join a fascinating conversation with a Black woman at the center of it.

Daytime television is a dizzyingly busy marketplace — and Sherri Shepherd, who hosts an eponymous show airing on Fox, is the newest breakout star in a crowded field that includes Tamron Hall, Jennifer Hudson, Whoopi Goldberg (“The View”), Robin Roberts (“Good Morning America”) and Hoda Kotb (who will soon depart “Today”). And we are still occasionally graced by the format’s forever queen, Oprah Winfrey — whose primetime celebrity interviews can upend Nielsen ratings at will.

“Sherri” has been greenlit for a two-season renewal through 2025, a strong affirmation of its status as a favored destination for a daily celebration of laughter, empowerment and connection. Shepherd’s unique interview style and compassionate approach fills the show with humor, along with a mission to uplift people through the power of conversation. A true believer in female empowerment, Shepherd doesn’t sidestep sometimes difficult conversations about modern womanhood — but she always takes care to make certain that joy prevails,

Her time spent in practically every facet of the entertainment industry, including years on “The View,” has allowed Shepherd to establish meaningful relationships with Hollywood A-listers who are comfortable opening up to her.

Winfrey herself appeared last December to discuss her legacy and pass the baton to her thrilled interviewer. Shepherd is protecting that legacy by acting as a source of inspiration — and creating a platform for interesting and fulfilling discussions with everyone from movie stars and authors to athletes and chefs.

“The audience,” she says, “will leave feeling better than when they came.”
