Henderson resident Shelley Payne-Pittman has designed and created a 2025 Black History Month display highlighting 80 Black inventors and history-makers in the areas of aerospace, science, government, communications, medicine, sports, literature, military, transportation, entertainment, and the Harlem Renaissance.
This impactful and educational Black History Month display will be shown at the West Las Vegas Library (951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.) throughout the month of February. Library staff will also host interactive games to encourage children to study the display.
Said Payne-Pittman: “I am a retired IT project manager who has lived in Henderson, Nevada for four years. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio during the Civil Rights Movement. For my generation, learning about Black history was a hunger and an expectation. I hope the community attends and enjoys the Black History Month 2025 display.”
