PEACE: We gonna be alright

The world is shifting, presenting a challenging slide of thought and balance.
It is amazing how a single action, thought, or choice can cause confusion, rock the world around us, and disrupt all that our ancestors fought to achieve. We look side-to-side, trying to see when righteousness will stand in opposition to injustice — but the internal GPS isn’t always pointing in the right direction.
Our daily routines keep clouds of chaos at bay. So, we keep-on-keeping-on, because that is HOW WE DO IT. The headlines say that we will soon be touched by the unthinkable; but then Marvin Gaye plays loud in our hearts, along with the music of the Delfonics. And we breathe.
History teaches that this has all happened before, and that our wounds can be healed by the love that resonates in our true hearts for each other. The protective legacy that has been handed to us — while in the line of fire, fears, and hurt — contributes to our capacity to overcome. And like cream, we rise.
We glance and connect with a deep understanding that we will be alright. The house we thought we lived in has shut its doors to many. No longer is it, “What about me?” It has always really been about us.
Truth to power is absent. Leadership is afraid of exclusion. So, we are in the cold without the blanket of courage, but always remember what mama used to say. It has always brought us through.
Our conscious minds are so powerful, but we must remember to stand strong with a worthy collective. Not all skin folk are kinfolk. Look not towards those climbing toward the mountaintop, but those who live for the city.
Peace is there, and we know it!
