The Nevada Homeless Alliance (NHA) has worked to end homelessness in Southern Nevada for over 30 years. The organization’s mission is to advance collaborative strategies to end homelessness in Southern Nevada through advocacy, public awareness, education, and coordination of services.

NHA’s vision is bringing together nonprofits, government agencies, community organizations, and individuals with lived experience to create lasting solutions. At the helm is Dr. Catrina Grigsby Thedford — a licensed social worker and certified drug and alcohol counselor. Early in her career, she worked in the beauty industry, and it was there that she discovered the power of self-expression and empowerment through beauty. These values continue to shape her leadership and approach to community care.

Thedford’s journey — from homelessness to leadership, and from self-discovery to driving systemic change — is powerful. It is a reminder of what is possible when communities come together to uplift and invest in one another.

On June 13, NHA will present its first-ever Hair & Fashion Show Off, a Juneteenth celebration honoring African-American culture, expression, and resilience. This event is more than a fundraiser; it is a tribute to Black beauty, artistry, and advocacy. The Hair & Fashion Show Off, will be held at the Fremont Country Club beginning at 7 p.m.

The event is for people 21 and older, and attendees will experience the creativity and style of our local barbers, stylists, and designers. For ticket prices and more information, go to https://link.dice.fm/nf2d6785a2b3. To learn more about NHA, go to nevadahomelessalliance.org.
