PEACE: Gratitude: first step on the journey to a lifetime of joy

There is so much to be grateful for. Yet many people forget that gratitude is the key ingredient to lasting joy and peace. We all face daily challenges, but what truly matters is how we interpret and respond to them. Life is not here simply to bring us highs and lows; it is here to provide experiences that shape us into the people God intends us to become. Rejecting those experiences — or trying to control every outcome—can delay the process of growth and refinement.

A diamond glistens because of the tremendous pressure placed upon it. Nature reminds us of this truth every day, offering guidance toward the life we desire. Too often, however, we allow ourselves to be led by artificial circumstances or the expectations of others. Your journey belongs to you alone. No one’s footsteps can perfectly follow another’s path.

Discovering the path to inner joy is a lifelong process shaped by your choices, faith, and experiences. Stretch yourself. Broaden your perspective and embrace life’s many wonders. Remember that you are wonderfully made, and don’t be afraid to be your own greatest encourager. Remain open to learning, stay humble, and continue to grow. Then, spread your wings and fly.

Let your dreams and your love for life soften the negativity that is certain to come. Love does not always have to begin with someone else.

The love that lives within you can sustain your spirit and keep a smile on your face. Laugh at yourself when life becomes overwhelming and your perspective grows cloudy. Stay focused on the purpose God has placed in your heart and on what you were created to do while on this earth.

Life is brief and often feels like a roller coaster, but hold on with faith. Joy comes in the morning. Gratitude is a precious gift. Treasure the smile someone shared with you, the meal that nourished you, the peaceful walk you took in solitude, and the reflection of God’s excellence you see in the mirror.

Joy is good for the soul, the mind, and the body. Learn how to tap into the wellspring of joy within you—a joy that reflects God’s light and radiates like sunlight dancing across the day.

A lifetime of joy begins with a grateful heart. Choose joy, embrace gratitude, and trust that God is leading you every step of the way.
